Have you ever felt… lost, rejected, ashamed, unloved, lonely, invisible, unheard or like no one even knows you exist?  Do you struggle with doubt, insecurity, or feeling like you’re not enough?

I know what it’s like to wrestle with some of those feelings.  To feel stuck in negative cycles, constantly comparing yourself to others, or doubting that God even has a plan for your life.  When you don’t truly know who you are, it’s easy to let fear, past wounds, and the world’s expectations define you.

But what if you could…

  • See yourself the way God sees you?

  • Walk in confidence and purpose, knowing your true identity?

  • Discover the unique mission God has entrusted to you?

That’s what becoming is all about.

What Does It Mean to Become?

Becoming is not just about change, it’s about transformation.  It’s about stepping into the fullness of who God created you to be.  The word “become” is about a process, one that takes you from a place of potential to a place of reality.  It’s not about striving but surrendering, allowing God to shape you into the person He designed you to be.

In simple terms, becoming is about aligning your life with God’s truth about who you are and stepping into His purpose for you.

The Journey of Becoming-

Becoming who God says you are isn’t an instant process.  It’s a journey-one that requires trust, surrender, and faith.  It means unlearning the lies you’ve believed about yourself and replacing them with God’s truth.

For a long time, I believed I had to earn my worth, to be good enough, talented enough, or strong enough to prove that I mattered. But God had to break that mindset.  He had to remind me that my identity isn’t based on what I do, but on who He says I am.

Here’s what I’ve learned about the process of becoming:

1. Becoming Requires Letting Go

You can’t become who God created you to be while still holding onto who the world says you are.  That means letting go of false labels, old wounds, and limiting beliefs.

For some, it’s letting go of rejection and embracing the truth that you are chosen (1 Peter 2:9).  For others, it’s releasing shame and accepting that in Christ, you are redeemed (Ephesians 1:7).

Whatever it is, becoming starts with surrender.

2. Becoming Requires Trusting God’s Process

Transformation isn’t always easy.  Sometimes, it feels like you’re stuck in the middle, no longer who you used to be but not yet who you’re becoming.  That’s the in-between, the place where faith is tested.

But God promises, “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it” (Philippians 1:6, NKJV).

Just like a caterpillar doesn’t become a butterfly overnight, your process of becoming takes time.  Trust that God is working, even when you can’t see it.

3. Becoming Requires Action

Becoming isn’t passive, it requires faith-filled steps.  It’s one thing to know who God says you are, but walking in that identity is another.

  • If God calls you bold, you have to step out in courage.

  • If He calls you set apart, you have to walk differently from the world.

  • If He calls you His masterpiece, you have to stop questioning your worth.

Faith without action is dead (James 2:26).  Becoming who God says you are means choosing, daily, to live in alignment with His truth.

The Beauty of Becoming

One of the most beautiful things about becoming is that it’s a lifelong journey.  There’s no finish line, no moment where you “arrive.”  Each season of life brings new opportunities to grow, to trust, and to step into more of God’s purpose.

So, if you’re in the middle of the process, I want to encourage you, you’re not alone.  God is still working in you, shaping you, and leading you forward.

You are becoming.

Proclamation:

I am becoming who God created me to be.  I surrender to His process, trust His timing, and align my life with His truth.

What step will you take today toward becoming all God has called you to be?

Let’s talk in the comments, I’d love to hear what God is speaking to you!
